FACULTY/STAFF PROJECT: College of the Muscogee Nation

BIO: As the Native American Studies Instructor and Advisor at the College of the Muscogee Nation, I provide mentoring to young men and women by enhancing leadership skills. I perpetuate the generational sharing of traditional knowledge and contemporary learning processes. I work to bring back the holistic way of growing whole foods through the traditional Native gardening practices, the community food preservation, and communal life. I work to preserve tribal arts and cultural skills; I work to vitalize and revitalize our songs, Mvskoke Hymns, and everyday way of life as a people.

My life objective is to leave a legacy that makes our world a better place for future generations so that even though no one remembers my name-youth will know what to do and how to do what needs completion with character and strength.

My research interests include tribal language, culture, history, and current events that impact higher learning in the tribal college setting. My courses with the Oral Roberts University College of Education in Higher Education Administration prepared me for the pursuit of completing a doctoral degree (Ed.D.) by Spring 2023.

Writer Statement

My passion for the Mvskoke Language and my vision for my Mvskoke people is to raise a generation of First Language speakers once again. As one of the remaining First Language speakers among the Muscogee Nation, I endeavor to maintain and sustain the Mvskoke Language, history, and culture in the manner of the braid and cord of three not be easily broken by outside influence. I hope and pray to leave that legacy to this generation and future generations. MVTO!
