Nurturing but Unforgiving

The art you will review is my collage, which I had to photograph. I finished this collage on 09/24/23, using materials such as cut-out magazines, paint markers, and Sharpies. This collage is 9 x 9 inches. I have done this solo graphic design project at Dine College this Fall semester. The assignment focused on creating a collage representing one word. I have chosen “nature.”

This collage would be perfect to submit for the Indigiverse Multimedia Festival and go well with two themes: Traditional and Contemporary Storytelling, including Environmental Justice. As a Dine Native woman, this collage represents the kindness and strength of indigenous women and mother nature’s life-giving but harsh environment that is not to be underestimated. It has beautifully been told for centuries in the Dine Culture that women are resilient, and we all come from a nurturing but unforgiving place that helps us grow as individuals with a balanced mindset.
