ABOUT

Come join us in a celebration of Indigenous Creativity and Resilience!

The AIHEC Indigenous Design Collective (IDC) invites all TCU students, faculty and staff to join us this April at Indigeverse – a celebration of Indigenous creativity, innovation and ingenuity spanning the sciences, humanities and the arts. Indigeverse will be an online showcase of art, writing, research, and scholarship in which all TCU students are invited to share their thoughts, ideas and work in all of the areas that matter to all of us. With the cancellation of the 2022 AIHEC Spring Conference, this will be an excellent opportunity to share, discuss and plan new ways to envision and work together to build an Indigenous Future.

Media formats: All forms of expression
Including creative writing (text), video production, podcasting, theater, poetry, photography, animation

Theme/topic possibilities:
· Traditional and contemporary storytelling
· Social justice activism
· Tribal culture, language and history
· Environmental justice, e.g. Dakota Access pipeline, climate change
· Public health, e.g. Covid

Workshop series:
Starting in late January, online short courses/workshops in video production and podcasting will be offered at no cost to any interested TCU students. The video production short course will be offered by Moema Umann, media specialist at Iḷisaġvik College. The podcasting workshop series will be offered by trainers from Spotify. Both series will help students from an idea to a finished video/podcast. Video/audio production software and recording equipment for podcasting will be provided.

Individual students or teams of students are invited to submit applications to develop a podcast or short video project. Students participating in projects will receive a $1,500 stipend to support their work. Completing the short course is encouraged. Submit an application to IDC@aihec.org
